Mexican Strays

Puerto Vallarta • Riviera Nayarit

Click the button above to make a donation to the Mexican Strays PayPal account.

For four years in a row, Nina Zurita and Steven Cumpstone vacationed in Puerto Vallarta and each time they were shocked to see how stray dogs are treated. This year, they decided to do something about it.

Millions of homeless dogs wander the streets and depend on garbage and the kindness of people to survive.

They are often rounded up by city officials and put to sleep. Nearly 20,000 dogs a MONTH suffer this fate.

The local pound doesn't take stray animals.

The thought of leaving the animals out to scavenge and sometimes get abused is heart wrenching.

Our Mexican Strays program is by far the best alternative solution, but we need your help and are currently trying to raise funds.

Our programs

• Provide vaccines
• Provide permanent shelter
• Provide continuous food
• Provide love and companionship
• Offer a better solution to an elimination
• Give strays a better life
• And, most importantly, neuter and spay

We are currently located in the Nayarit area approximately 2 hours from Puerto Vallarta in Sayulita.

We are trying to fundraise and open up a permanent shelter for these strays rather then a temporary one.

We have a local vet check the animal for rabies and update all shots necessary and have them neutered/spayed.

We then locate the animal to our beautiful 8 acre animal sanctuary where the animal is well fed and well socialized with other animals and humans and are available for adoption as well.

Right now this project is only funded by us and is in desperate need of donations.
