The Volcanes Kids Education Program's main objective is to ensure children in the Volcanes community and surrounding areas, go to school, stay in school and dream big. We believe education is the key to raising people out of poverty.
To ensure that all of our students graduate high school and to support any student that wants to continue on to university or take advanced training courses with additional scholarships.
To help move the Volcanes community out of poverty through education by inspiring and helping its young people to go to school and stay in school. This will lead to better futures for the students involved as well as for the community.
Our Motto is... Go to School. Stay in School. Dream Big.
The Volcanes colonia is one of the poorest neighborhoods in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The children here are in need of education and a safe place where they can learn and believe in themselves. Before the Volcanes Kids Education Program, children in this colonia rarely stayed in school past elementary or before graduating middle school. Our program had made an impact in the dropout rates. Almost every student enrolled in our program stays in school through high school - and we currently have 32 students enrolled in university.
The fact that our program has grown from 60 children to almost 400 in recent years shows how big a need for education there is here. Your support helps us to empower a generation by transforming the lives of these children and, by extension, transforming the community.
VKEP is always looking for highly motivated volunteers to help our community and our children. You can make a difference. Get Involved
