Tourism Secretary Gloria Guevara Manzo

MEXICO CITY – Tourism Secretary Gloria Guevara Manzo said on Sunday that Mexico will increase tourism promotion abroad through the G20 summit in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur in June, and in two international conferences in Yucatan and the Mayan Riviera.

She said that, “Mexico is proud to host the 4th Ministerial Meeting of Tourism (T20) and the Americas Summit of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), which will encourage (tourism) as an important contributor to the world economy.”

The conferences, she said, will benefit the country’s international image, and will be an opportunity to showcase to the world the wealth of tourist riches such as the “Mayan world,” gastronomic routes, “Magical Towns,” beaches and archeological sites.

She added that the T20 conference will take place on May 15 and 16 in Mérida, Yucatan, and that tourism secretaries from 20 of the most developed countries in the world will discuss “tourism as an alternative to job creation.”

The conference will form part of preparatory meetings for the G20 Leaders Summit, which will take place in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur on June 18 and 19, to form proposals for job creation through encouraging global tourism.

Besides the presence of 20 tourism secretaries, guest countries will include: Denmark, Spain, Chile, Colombia, Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica and Peru.
