MEXICO CITY - In Mexico about 70 demonstrators attacked the official residence of Iguala’s mayor, inflicting tangible damage to the building. The security services managed to restore order in the area.
In Chilpancingo, the capital of the state of Guerrero, demonstrators broke through the door and set a car on fire. They threw stones and homemade firecrackers at the building. Vandalism was stopped only after about 500 riot police officers arrived at the scene. Preliminary data indicates that no one was hurt.
The attack at mayor’s residence took place after mass protest demonstrations in cities across Mexico calling for the authorities to find the missing people that disappeared on September 26.
