Members of the Caravana 43, family members of the 43 students who disappeared in Mexico in September 2014, protested in front of the US White House this week, demanding answers and help from both the American and Mexican government. Anya Parampil reports from the scene. (RT America )
A small group of families of the 43 normal school students disappeared more than six months ago in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, demonstrated in front of the White House to get support from the United States and military help from the Pentagon concerning the government of Enrique Pena Nieto.
“The case of the 43 students is not closed”, declared Felipe de la Cruz Sandoval, spokesperson for the Caravana 43, on behalf of the group that, divided in three parts, is touring through the United States.
The demonstrators positioned themselves in front of the White House with a banner, demanding an end to the military support from the United States to México, and banners with the photograph of two of the 43 disappeared normal school students, indicating that the international community can not allow this crime against humanity.
The demand of the members of the Caravana 43 to the government of Barack Obama is centered on asking that the Pentagon stop handing over military equipment to the government of Enrique Peña Nieto under the agreement of bilateral cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking as defined by the Mérida Initiative.
