US Consulate in Guadalajara Issues Travel Advisory

State.gov
April 14, 2015
Share

The United States Consulate General in Guadalajara wishes to alert U.S. citizens to a number of recent violent, deadly confrontations between criminal organizations and police. These incidents have occurred in various parts of the State of Jalisco, and may continue.

While the Consulate has no specific information that U.S. citizens are being targeted, the unpredictable nature of the attacks means that U.S. citizens should review their personal security preparations and remain vigilant at all times. The Consulate also continues to recommend that inter-city travel be done during daylight hours and that when possible toll roads (“Cuotas”) should be used.

We strongly recommend that U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Mexico enroll in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at Travel.State.gov. STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency. If you don’t have Internet access, enroll directly with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

Regularly monitor the State Department's website, where you can find current Travel Warnings (including the Travel Warning for Mexico), Travel Alerts, and the Worldwide Caution. Read the country specific information for Mexico. For additional information, refer to “A Safe Trip Abroad” on the State Department’s website.

The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara is located at 175 Progreso Street, Col. Americana and is open Monday-Friday, from 0730 AM to 1630 PM. The U.S. Consulate General in Guadalajara’s telephone number is 011-52-333-268-2100; the fax number is 011-52-333-825-1951. If you are a U.S. citizen in need of urgent assistance, the emergency number for the Consulate is 011-52-333-268 2145.

The U.S. Consular Agency in Puerto Vallarta is located at Paseo de los Cocoteros #85; Sur Paradise Plaza, Interior Local L-7, Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit and is open Monday-Friday from 0830 AM to 1630 PM. The U.S. Consular Agency in Puerto Vallarta’s telephone numbers are 011-52-322-222-0069 & 011-52-322-223-3301; the fax number is 011-52-322-223-0074.
