In the early 20th century, the old Garibaldi Square was a place known for its small shops, its second-hand market and especially for its cantinas. The fame of the tequilerías and pulquerías in Garibaldi turned the square into a popular spot for relaxation and the place where the mariachis of the city gathered together.
Now in the 21st century, this square is a tribute to Charro culture - you can find the Museum of Tequila and Mezcal, the School of Mariachis, and this open-air sculpture museum dedicated to the greatest of the Charro folklore.
