A journalist is robbed live on air as an armed thief demanded he hand over his watch in this surprising footage.

Mexican journalist Pedro Ferriz was doing a live stream when a robber approached his car and began demanding "reloj!" - his wristwatch.

Broadcaster Ferriz claimed the armed robber asked for his watch and mobile phone in footage dramatically captured by his own show.

Ferriz, whose father was a well known politician in Mexico was filming from his car using Periscope, a live-streaming app for smartphones.

The attack took place in Mexico City, near the president's residence.
