The Obama Administration is offering $5 million reward for details leading to the capture of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, who staged a Hollywood-style escape from a maximum-security prison outside Mexico City late Saturday.

In an updated version of Guzman’s “wanted” post, the U.S. Department of State says that on July 11, 2015, the head of the multibillion-dollar Sinaloa cartel “again escaped from a federal maximum security prison, this one identified as Altiplano, in the State of Mexico.”

In 2001, Guzmán slipped out from the Puente Grande prison in the western state of Jalisco; he was recaptured early last year.

“Guzman-Loera remains a fugitive from justice in both the United States and the Republic of Mexico and there is currently a U.S. State Department REWARD OF UP TO $5 MILLION for information leading to his arrest,” the State Department added.

Government sources tell me that the U.S. “will spare no effort to see he is caught.” Washington has offered Mexico assistance in recapturing Guzmán, including marshals, drones, and even a special task force but, according to The New York Times, “the Mexicans have kept the Americans at bay, without giving an answer on the extra help.”
