On the occasion of International Youth Day 2015, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and his Youth Envoy, Ahmad Alhendawi, send a joint message to youth around the world. (United Nations)

Fifty youth groups and human rights organizations say that amid a growing lack of opportunities for young people, the criminalization, prosecution and execution of this population sector are widespread events characteristic of this presidential administration.

The pronouncement titled Toward a Dignified Life for All Young People, issued on the occasion of International Youth Day (August 12), warns that there is nothing to celebrate on this day in Mexico, since the attack on young people is increasingly horrific: "We denounce that governments, at local and federal levels, have declared an endless war against young people."

The pronouncement - the result of a project coordinated by the Fray Francisco de Vitoria Human Rights Center - released yesterday [August 11], demands a State policy that truly meets the needs and guarantees the exercise and enjoyment of rights and freedoms of young people living or passing through our country. The statement was released after a reflective panel discussion and several workshops at the University Culture Center.
