The Mexican government will be planning to name the Sea of Cortez a Nature Protected Area, according to what was reported by the Secretary of the Environment and Natural Resources in Baja California Sur, José Carlos Cota Osuna.

The initiative, according to what he said, was presented by President Enrique Peña Nieto, who announced the start of feasibility studies to name the Sea of Cortez, which is shared by four Mexican states.

Cota Osuna, who did not provide more details, said that during the creation process, there will be ample input from citizens in the state fishing sector, as published in El Sudcaliforniano.

As of the moment, the manner in which the proposal will be presented is unknown, as well as the limitations and advantages, for those who live from commercial and sports fishing in Baja California Sur.
