As of midnight on Sept. 24, analog television broadcasting signals in different locations in four Mexican states will be shut off, according to the Federal Telecommunications Institute (ITF).
The institution said that the areas to lose broadcasting television stations include Monterrey and Sabinas Hidalgo in Nuevo León; Bahía Asunción, Bahía de Tortugas, Guerrero Negro, San Ignacio and Santa Rosalía in Baja California Sur; Cuencamé in Durango and San Nicolás Jacala, Hidalgo.
In a statement, the institution said that all the locations will receive only digital television signals as of Sept. 24, which offers free benefits for audiences such as better image and sound quality, more channels (some in HD), among other things.
The end of analog transmissions enacted by the ITF complies with the prescribed conditions in the legislation for the current transmission of the Terrestrial Digital Television (TDT).
