Analysis of the third State of the Nation Address of Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto. (El Daily Post)
President Peña Nieto said that in 2014 the government vaccination program had achieved 97.8 percent coverage of all 1-year-olds with regard to shots for measles, rubella and mumps, up from only 86.1 percent in 2012. Although this statement is accurate, The Bloodhound declares it Almost True because the achievement is not solely attributable to his administration. The trend in increasing vaccination coverage dates back to 2008.
The figures cited by Peña Nieto during his State of the Nation Address are genuine and can be found at the Mexico’s Objectives for Development in the Millennium website. In 2012, 1,914,477 children were vaccinated, in 2013 the number ros to 1,961,185 children and last year 2,162,938 were vaccinated.
