According to the 2015 National Survey on Victimization and Perception of Public Security [ENVIPE] conducted by the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (INEGI), citizens expressed diminished confidence in the Armed Forces, the Federal Police (PF) and the Attorney General's Office (PGR) [public prosecutors].

Presented on Wednesday by the INEGI, the ENVIPE revealed that:

   • Army suffered the steepest decline in level of confidence, falling from 80.77% in 2013 to 77.6% in 2014 [3.17 point drop];
   • Marines went from a confidence level of 84.4% in 2013 to 81.6% in 2014 [2.8 point drop].

During 2014, the percentage of Mexicans who have 'Much or Some' confidence in the:

   • PGR dropped to 49.2% from its 2013 level of 51.4% in 2013 [2.2 point drop]; and
   • Federal Police lost 1.5% in level of confidence.

Respondents' lowest ratings went to:

   • Traffic Police, which have the confidence of only 31.3% of Mexicans;
   • Municipal Police, which have the support of 36% of citizens;
   • Public Ministries [federal and state prosecutors] and Local [Municipal] Prosecutors have a confidence level of just 41.5% of the populace. In addition to those already listed:

   • Judges fell from a confidence level of 47.4% to 46.2% [1.2 point drop];
   • State Police went from 44.1% to 42.5% [1.6 point drop]; and
   • Ministerial or Judicial Police [part of the PGR] went from having the confidence of 42.5% of the citizenry to 42.4 % [.1 point drop].

The survey conducted annually by the INEGI demonstrated that in 2014 all the institutions of public security, national security and the prosecution and administration of justice lost ground in the confidence of Mexicans.
