LGBT advocates in Mexico are protesting a newly released film titled 'Pink' which they say are filled with homophobic stereotypes, anti-gay caricatures, and negative messages about same-sex couples adopting children.

Directed by Paco del Toro, the Spanish-language film is currently showing in over 200 theatres across Mexico via Cinemex and Henry Cinemas although Cinépolis has refused to show the film, according to the Spanish language El Economista newspaper.

'Pink' is said to tell the story of a gay couple who adopt a child. One of the protagonists of the film stopped being homosexual through the Bible while his partner is diagnosed with AIDS.

...A petition on Change.org launched three weeks ago by gay rights activists to ask the country’s human rights commission to look into whether the film is homophobic has attracted over 14,500 signatures, just short of its 15,000 target.
