With everything going on these days, can you blame us? (Emoji)
The art of emojis totally changed everyone's texting game. Now, instead of using words to describe feelings like frustration when your husband cancels date night, because he has to stay late at work, you can just send him a face with tears streaming down it. It's a universal language, if you will — but not all countries use the same icons equally.
A new survey from Twitter data reveals the top emojis used in different places across the world, and, apparently, the United States is kind of whiny. How else do you explain why we use the "weary facing" illustration the most on Twitter out of all other choices? But we're not the only ones: Canada and the United Kingdom are just as unhappy.
Meanwhile Turkey, Indonesia and the Philippines are almost bursting with happiness. Mexico and India are all about the praying hands. (Did you know it's not a high five?) And Latin America proves they're the most musically-minded, with Colombia, Brazil and Argentina preferring the music notes above the rest.
