According to statistics released today, 1,147 people 100 years old or more live in Mexico City, out of which, 841 are women and 306 men.
Based on the list of beneficiaries of government pensions in Mexico City, Susana Villaescusa, from the state of Tabasco, it is eldest, at 118 years old.
According to figures from the National Institute of Geography and Statistics, 2012, people over 68 accounted for 13.36 percent of the total population of the capital.
It is expected that by 2030 the figure will rise to 20.19 percent, that is, 1,706,672 people.
