A commemorative plaque was placed on the entry of the Church of Santo Domingo, in the historic center of Mexico City, as part of the ceremonies for the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.
Is an act of memory and response to the historical debt with the African people and Afro-descendants, said Diego Prieto, technical secretary in charge of the General Directorate of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH, in Spanish)?
Nuria Sanz, director and representative of the Office of UNESCO in Mexico, and Prieto led this event.
The anthropologist stressed that the Ministry of Culture through the INAH is pleased to participate in the actions of the International Slave Route Project: resistance, freedom and heritage of UNESCO.
