This Datsun 240Z Gives a Rocket Feeling (Petrolicious)
When the Datsun 240Z was introduced to the automotive market in 1970 it quickly gained popularity among the import crowd, leaving eager enthusiasts on long waiting lists to get their hands on this iconic sportscar; eventually leading it to be considered one of the best sportscars of the 1970s.
In the video above by Petrolicious, Taz Harvey, a car dealership owner from Northern California, details the story of how he came to own an iconic Datsun 240Z, and turn it into a Mexico road rally car.
Harvey acquired his 240Z after a customer traded it in at one of his dealerships for a pickup truck. At the recommendation of a friend, Harvey had previously piloted a Datsun 510 in the revival of the classic La Carrera Panamericana road rally in Mexico, and decided to ditch the 510 and build upon the 240Z’s sportscar platform to create the perfect road rally car.
...Harvey managed to surprise many by taking a classic, low cost entry-level sportster, and building into a road rally car capable of putting cars that are more than double its price tag to shame.
