San Miguel de Allende is home to large numbers of expat Americans lured by mild climate, cosmopolitan atmosphere and affordable property prices. Up to 19,000 of its 140,000 population are Americans who live here permanently or part-time.

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll put Clinton five percentage points ahead of Trump, down slightly since the FBI last week said it was reviewing more emails in its investigation of Clinton.
