Apostolic nuncio Franco Coppola said that poverty in Mexico is "an embarrassment." Three months after his arrival in Mexico, he said he was amazed by the misery here.
Tuesday, the Pope's representative in Mexico led a mass for the 800th Anniversary of the founding of the Dominicans, the the Basilica of Guadalupe.
There, he said that before coming to Mexico, he worked in Africa, where the lack of development was seen by all. "Here, that cannot be said," but the inequality is evident, he said. "So many poor today, it is not possible!"
