Mexicans burn a Trumpified Judas in effigy on Easter (Hindustan Times)
On the eve of Easter Sunday, denizens of Mexico City gathered in a public square for the traditional burning of Judas, but this Judas was dressed with what has become a familiar power red tie. In view of his promises to get Mexico to pay for a border wall with the U.S., Donald Trump has sent shockwaves through Mexico with his rise to the presidency of the United States.
And so for the second year running, Mexicans decided to cast Judas as Trump. At the ritualistic burning, hundreds of locals congregated to watch the effigy burn alongside the setting off of fireworks.
Trump was not the only high-profile figure who was given the Judas treatment in Mexico City. So was Mexican President, Enrique Pena Nieto, whose popularity has fallen dramatically over the past couple years.
