Mazatlan Seeing Surge in Real Estate Demand from US & Canadian Markets

The Spirits of the Historical Center of Mazatlan (Mahatma Millán)

Given the current standing of Mexico's currency combined with the continuing renaissance of Mazatlan, Mexico, more and more Americans and Canadians are making a lifestyle decision to purchase real estate in this colonial city on the ocean. Mazatlan offers a variety of investment options from a mixture of developed and undeveloped colonial properties in the burgeoning Centro Historico (Historic Center) to beach and golf course living at the 900 acre gated community of Estrella del Mar with over 3.5 miles of secluded beachfront.

According to Brian Werner, Managing Director of Estrella del Mar, "Mazatlan is experiencing an economic boom because of the commitment it has made in recent years to its infrastructure and safety concerns. We're now seeing a surge of Americans and Canadians that are choosing to stretch their dollars and invest in their lifestyle and take advantage of all that Mazatlan has to offer from great beaches, championship golf and year-round weather to art centers, sport fishing, theater, boutique stores, and fine restaurants."

Mazatlan is considered the 'Shrimp Capital of the World' and the destination was a shrimp village before evolving into a commercial and cultural colonial city and tourist destination. Yet Mazatlan has maintained its affordability and authentic Mexican experience.

There is also no other Mexican destination that features Mazatlan's expansive Centro Historico area featuring 18th century architecture, an opera house, art galleries, live music and a variety of unique restaurants situated alongside beautiful tree and flower-laden plazas and patios. Also, the recent improvements to Mazatlan's Malecon, a 13 mile walkway along the Pacific Ocean, make it a great way to see and experience the city either by walking, bicycle, segways, rollerblades with live music, food, statues and so much more.

With airlines adding new flights, the increase in airlift is making Mazatlan more accessible for individuals to travel between their home in Mazatlán and their home abroad, or for retirees to visit friends and family back home. A new highway has also made Mazatlan more accessible by car from many US markets.
