Own a Luxury Residence at Sea (Aboard The World)

You might have thought "The World" was the world, you know, like earth, but it's actually the name of a private yacht containing 165 apartments. The boat continuously travels the world, and you purchase the apartments aboard just like any apartment on land.

The World is owned by 142 families who decide what its itinerary will be each year. Since 2002, The World has stopped in more than 900 ports in 140 countries.

In 2017, it's going to Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Hawaii, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Canada, Alaska, Mexico and Miami.

The yacht will also travel to very remote regions of the world, such as the Ross Sea in Antarctica. Two or three times a year, the yacht organizes expeditions – trips during which researchers and environmentalists hold conferences aboard.

... But to live this kind of luxury, you'll need at least 3 million dollars – the price of a studio aboard. Some of the apartments cost up to 15 million dollars. So if you've got a few million tucked away somewhere, you're in luck, but that's not all. You also have to pay $100,000 per year in expenses.

Because of course, The World is the lap of luxury. There are six restaurants, several pools, a golf simulator, a tennis court, a library, a cinema, a gym and a spa.
