Movistar Mexico (Telefonica) has joined the Amber Alert program run by the country's procurator general (PGR) to issue alerts in the most serious child-abduction cases.
The stated aim of the national alert service is to instantly galvanise the entire community to assist in the search for and the safe recovery of missing children. Amber Alerts are broadcast through radio, TV, road signs and mobile technology of all kinds.
Under the terms of the agreement, Movistar pledged to send SMS to its customers whenever an alert is issued with a view to supporting the search and quickly locating abducted children and adolescents.
