What Mexico can teach us about social security (Chicago Booth Review)
During the fifth month of the year, 26,742 formal jobs were generated, 6,408 jobs or 31.5% more than the increase reported in May 2016 (20,334 jobs)., according to the most recent data on the number of workers affiliated to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).
On the one hand, 63,338 new permanent positions were created last May, 17% more than last year. But on the other hand, 37,764 temporary positions were lost, 8.5% more than those lost in May 206.
With this result, IMSS points out that the job creation in the current administration is 2,752,000 positions.
This increase is 2.6 times greater than that created in the same period of the previous administration (1,069,496 jobs) and even higher than the one created during the six years of any of the past administrations.
