Over 2,600 species of wild flora and fauna are currently in the different stages of extinction in Mexico, as announced today by the Environment and Natural Resources Secretariat (SEMARNAT).
One of every 10 species known in the world lives in Mexico, ranking third among those of great biological wealth, after Indonesia and Brazil.
The golden eagle, symbol of the Mexican flag, bird of prey that measures up to two meters height, is threatened given a low reproduction rate.
... According to a Semarnat census, there are 987 plants at risk; 443 reptiles; 392 birds; 291 mammals, 2014 fishes, and 194 amphibians.
