Parents Push for Transparent Backpacks in Mexican Schools (Vocativ)
In an effort to reduce weapons and violence in schools, parents in Mexico are pushing for a mandatory rule to make students use see-through backpacks.
The recent push for clear backpacks comes after several deadly attacks in Mexican schools. The most recent of which happened at a school in Monterrey, where a 15-year-old student opened fire on his classmates, leaving five wounded and two dead.
While parents continue to petition school boards for a change in policy, several “high risk” schools have received donations of transparent backpacks.
