What better way to promote during and after your event than to use Facebook to let the experience live on.

1. Location is key, “check-in” on Facebook

A great way to gain visibility on Facebook is to have your participants “check-in” to your event. They can do this by attaching the location to their status. By encouraging registrants to “check-in” online when they first come to the event, their friends on Facebook will see that how many people are coming together for the event. Some may not have heard of the fundraiser and this will give your Facebook page more traffic.

2. Use a photographer/videographer

While you will need to budget to incorporate a photographer/videographer if you would like to use a professional one, this is a great way to involve participants and highlight their accomplishments. By posting a communal album people can “tag” themselves and their friends and family in it, this will give your participants more of a community feel, as well as making your Facebook album the central attraction.

3. Have a follow-up post

In addition to the photo album, you should post a follow-up status thanking your participants and even asking them to share some of their memories of the event. This will promote engagement between your participants and your Facebook page as well as connecting participants with one another.

4. A community for a cause

As you build an online community, this will help ensure that your events gain more awareness and will translate to more volunteers for future fundraising events. Events are exciting times for nonprofits so make sure you make the most out of yours and document it will for publicity purposes, and the memories as well.
