With a "massive" call to the teachers of the country, the National Coordinating Committee of Education Workers (CNTE) will promote an indefinite work stoppage beginning this week, after informing and consulting parents in the first days of the return to classes. [Monday, August 19 is the first day of school]

Francisco Bravo, secretary general of Section 9 [Mexico City] of the dissident teachers, said the National Representative Assembly, the decision-making body of the organization, decided in permanent session that "it will evaluate its action plan daily, although it was agreed that all protests will be concentrated in the country's capital."

He explained that beginning on Monday, when the 2013-14 school year starts, ... the teachers will begin an "intensive" information campaign with parents in the country, in order to make known "the reasons why we must return to the streets."
