MEXICO CITY - The head of government of the Federal District, Miguel Angel Mancera, expects positive results on Wednesday to solve the situation in the camp that the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) set up in Mexico City.
According to the official, a meeting between the dissenting teachers and authorities from the Ministry of the Interior is still standing in order to resolve definitively the protest the union have staged at Plaza of the Republic since September 13.
On Monday, the CNTE camp around the Monument to the Revolution was withdrawn after negotiations between the local goverment and the teachers' leaders.
After the withdrawal of protesters, who oppose the education reform passed this year, because they consider that it privatizes the sector, the local leader said that the talks between the Interior Ministry and the Secretariat of the Federal District on the complete withdrawal of the camp will continue.
According to Mancera, the teachers' withdrawal is a substantial progress and there will be other results in the coming days.
