PEACE Needs a Replacement Truck For Mobile Animal Clinic Gretchen DeWitt - PEACE Ayuda de Los Animales | |

PEACE Truck Before |
Six months ago our PEACE Mobile Clinic truck was demolished by a drunk driver.
None of our staff were injured, but the truck was a great loss, as it was used to load up crates, collect animals and return them at our PEACE Mobile Clinic.
At the Mojoneras clinic, seven animals, including the cat that was pregnant with six fetuses, were sterilized. That wouldn´t have happened if there hadn´t been a volunteer with a car.
The PEACE Mobile Clinic is unique in that it is able to serve very isolated and remote areas that would not be reached otherwise. Many people living in these rural areas do not have access to transportation, which makes it very difficult to get proper care for their animals.
The educational component of the program is also an important one as the animal clinic not only teaches community members but also goes into schools to educate children about the importance of spay and neutering and proper care of their animals.
More dogs and cats in our colonies are now sterilized because of PEACE´s repeat visits to the same colonias. However, there are still thousands of unsterilized dogs and dogs in Vallarta.
The numbers of animals being sterilized every week at our clinics have gone down in the last few months. In part, the lower numbers are the result of not having a truck to collect pets.
The PEACE mobile clinic really needs a truck. A good used one can be purchased for about $3,500 US.
PEACE clinics need not only funds and supplies, but volunteers to help with the collection of animals, registration, and post-op.
We have all seen abandoned, abused, sick, starving, copulating, pregnant and nursing animals on the streets here.
The mission of PEACE is to prevent the future suffering of unwanted and uncared for animals. Sterilization is the only solution to the unwanted pet population everywhere.
In addition to volunteers, we also could use donations of new or used collars and leashes, used sheets and towels and all things that a cat, dog or vet could use. PEACE has tax-free status in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
