A charity golf tournament that promises to be fun while raising money for the orphans of Casa de Ninos in Tepic has been set for March 25 at the fabulous Tepic Golf and Country Club.
The Casa de Ninos is a very special orphanage that was set up by the late Dr. Frank Gonzales, who rescued children who were living with their parents in the Nayarit State Prison in Tepic.
"While ministering in the prison in Tepic in 1968, the late Dr. Frank Gonzales saw several little boys among the inmates. Upon questioning the warden, he was told that the boys were homeless street children. Since there was no children's home in the entire state of Nayarit, they had no choice but to put the boys in with the adult prisoners. Right there the Lord placed the burden on Frank's heart to open a home for orphaned and abandoned children. In 1970 because of God's faithfulness and many caring people, ground was broken for the Casa de Niños. Frank traveled throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico with his singing group, spreading the 'good news' of the gospel of Jesus Christ and raising support for the orphanage. On April 6, 1994, Frank was called to his eternal reward, but the vision God gave him for the children lives on at Casa de Niños."
Peter Vines who runs a fishing charter business out of Puerto Vallarta has organized this event says you can register for the 650 pesos event by emailing him at vallartafishing@hotmail.com. Included in the event is a t-shirt and food including a tuna fish fry.
"I have been very blessed with great family and lot of good friends. Some folks are not (as blessed), like these kids and we want to reach out and help these kids for the 1st Annual Casa de Ninos Golf tournament," Vines said.
"Shotgun start, 4 person teams, which will be a draw. This is a fun tournament and of course it will help the kids out, I will be giving away a boating cruise and Dave Sanders from Fishin' Mission will be also."
We hope to see you there for the fun and competition in supporting our less fortunate children.
