To all Commodores, Class Presidents and Sailors:

Andy Barrow, Commodore, VYC

It is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the Wesmex  International Small Boat Regatta 2013, to be held at Vallarta Yacht Club, on the 18th to 21st of April.

This year VYC is honored to have the WesMex Regatta chosen as one of four national regattas in the Mexican Circuit by the class associations of Optimist, Laser, Windsurfers and 420s.

Now in its eighth year, International WesMex Regatta 2013 will be a qualifier for the Mexican Sailing Team to represent the country in various international youth competitions.

We invite you to enjoy one of the best places to sail in the world, the beautiful Banderas Bay.

Beginning on April 16, the early arrivals will be welcome to participate in the optional pre-event racing clinics and practice sessions.

The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 18, with the WesMex Regatta beginning on April 19.

You will be treated to dinners and parties at the Vallarta Yacht Club with the Closing Ceremony & Awards Presentation taking place on April 21.

Vallarta Yacht Club is located 10 km. north of Puerto Vallarta airport, with convenient flights to major cities in Mexico and the United States. VYC is located within the Paradise Village Resort, an excellent choice to stay with family, and enjoy this great event.

For a detailed schedule of events, visit WesMex Events.

For those interested in participating in WesMex 2013, you can register by clicking on Register to Race. We encourage all participants to pre-register online if possible.

When the Wind Blows – Volunteers are Needed!

In order to provide the best and most consistent wind for the competitors, the national classes asked us to host WesMex in April. This can be a challenge for our volunteer pool, as many of our members plan to return to their homelands around Easter.

We are asking you for your help to reserve these dates as a volunteer if at all possible: Pre-event racing clinics on April 16-18 and the WesMex Regatta on April 19-21.

For questions, more information or volunteers, please email the Chairman of the WesMex event, Ms Linda Green, at chair@wesmexregatta.org.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at WesMex 2013.

Sincerely,

Andy Barrow
Commodore, Vallarta Yacht Club
