We want to take this opportunity to wish all of our friends and family a happy holiday season. We look forward to a wonderful new year.
On a personal note, I want to extend my appreciation to Lynnette Fairclough for taking on the responsibility of the newsletter in my absence and doing a superb job.
Upcoming Event:
Come meet Santa Claus on December 22 at Teatro Vallarta and join him for a Gala Christmas Concert starring the very popular Mexican Tenor Jorge Jimenez performing with the Philharmonic Group of Guadalajara and Mariachi Joya de Mexico.
The show starts at 8:30 pm. Complimentary holiday cheer provided by Tequila San Matias during intermission.
Ticket prices vary based on seat location (200 or 300 pesos) and are available at Teatro Vallarta Ticketmaster and Gallerias Liverpool.
A portion of the proceeds with be donated to the SPCA.
Adorable Dogs in the Spotlight...
We currently have a number of dogs being fostered that are ready for adoption. Penny and Pumpkin are ready for their forever homes. And, as expected based on their heritage, they will need a loving companion who will be an active playmate.
As for Lola, well this sweetie is just looking for a warm lap to snuggle into.
If you are interested in any of these dogs, please contact us at spcapv@gmail.com.
Adorable Kittens in the Spotlight...
These lovelies are currently being cared for by a few of our dedicated volunteers. It would be a wonderful start of the new year if we could find them their forever home. We have a number of felines of all ages just looking for someone to love.
Just a reminder, all cats adopted from the SPCA de Puerto Vallarta have been sterilized and vaccinated. Any rumors to the contrary are just that...rumors.
If you are interested in any of these kittens, please contact us at spcapv@gmail.com.

Thank Yous:
We have been very fortunate to have received a number of donations recently. We send our sincere thanks to the following friends for their continued support.
Special thanks to Barb and Bob Sypult for their $2,500 U.S. donation.
Last week at Los Mangos Library, we received a donation of 2000 pesos from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous. Thank you so much.
Thanks to Katherine Loakim for your $100 U.S. donation.
At the special event held at Teatro Vallarta on December 3, we received a 1000 pesos donation from Ladislav Kovac. Thank you.
There are a few friends we want to thank for donating specific items needed to complete the shelter: Marty Weber and Sharon Tognietti donated a toilet; Yvonne Kalman donated two ceiling fans; Janice Gonzalez donated two ceiling fans.
We already mentioned that Donna Feldman donated two animal shampooing machines for the new shelter. Donna has asked that we also thank her beautiful golden retriever service dog, McGinnis.
Thanks to Ben and Wally who bought and delivered two bags of Kirkland dog food to Janice Chatterton.
And finally, our apologies and thanks to Niksan Sushi. We overlooked acknowledging this restaurant for providing a donation for auction at our annual fundraiser held at Hacienda San Angel on November 26.
Adoption Locations:
The SPCA de Puerto Vallarta continues to host adoption events every Saturday at two popular locations:
1) Los Mangos Library: Biblioteca Los Mangos, on Avenida Francisco Villa, just past the Pemex station and around the corner from Costco. Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
2) Old Town Farmers' Market: Our booth is now located on Pino Suarez, between V. Carranza and Basilio Badillo along El Jardin de Ninos Emiliano Zapata school. Time: 9:30 am - 1:30 pm
Everyone is welcome to come and play with the animals, chat with us about them and about the SPCA, and of course, think about adoptions!
Farmers' Market:
The day started with a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday, December 10, at 9:30 am. We are very excited about this new venue, and even more so with the number of attendees.
For those of you who had visited us in November, please note that we are no longer located within the school structure but have a tent located opposite the school on Pino Suarez.
We have no adoptions to report, but we were able to gather 3600 pesos and $65 U.S. combined from donations and merchandise sales.
We only have the month of July left for sale in our 2012 calendar. Be sure to stop by our booth if you are interested in spotlighting your beloved animal.
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers: Mark, Doreen and Lynnette.
Los Mangos Library:
We had a number of dogs and cats brought to the library by their foster parents. Alas, no adoptions. But our thanks to all the volunteers who continually show up each week: Luz, Shannon, Debra, Angela, Jenny, Madeline, Sandra and Juan Carlos.
Currently the SPCA de PV is selling calendars, bumper stickers, tote bags and tee shirts as a way to raise funds. You may buy any of these items at the Library or Farmers' Market, or at Cassandra Shaw Jewelry located at 276 Basilio Badillo.
(100% of the purchase price supports the SPCA de PV)
Remember, if anyone can accompany dogs to the US or Canada, please contact us at spcapv@gmail.com.
