Pumpkin with our wonderful friend Jenny

Is she not the sweetest!  Here is a photo of Pumpkin with our wonderful friend Jenny. Pumpkin is a few months old and a bundle of energy.  She is a mixed breed but definitely some Lab in there, so she needs a lot of exercise.  She gets along with other dogs and cats.

If you are interested in adopting Pumpkin or any of our dogs, please contact us.

Adorable Cats Spotlight...Fighty and Trini

These lovelies are currently being cared for by a few of our dedicated volunteers. It would be a wonderful start of the new year if we could find them their forever home. We have a number of felines of all ages just looking for someone to love.

To see other animals available for adoption, visit our website.  If you can volunteer as a foster family or are interested in any of our animals, please contact us at spcapv@gmail.com.

New Shelter

Now that the new shelter is completed and has opened, we want to thank a number of friends for their contributions. We still need some office furniture and household items for the apartment.  If you can help, please contact us at spcapv@gmail.com.

Thanks so much to Bob Price from the Botanical Gardens for his generous donation of five substantially grown shade trees.  And thanks to Janice and Lynnette for reaching out to Bob. Thanks to Luz Marie, mother of our board member Luz Wong, who donated five ficus trees.

Thanks to Donna Moseley for the bathroom sink. Thanks to Yvonne Kalman for two ceiling fans and Janice Gonzalez who also donated two ceiling fans. Thanks to Rosemary Anderson for the money to buy two fans.

Thanks to Marty Weber and Sharon Tognietti for donating a toilet…and all the other people who have donated sweaters and towels, etc. We are sorry that we can't acknowledge everyone by name.

THANKS ALSO to Ron and Hannah Nunn for their $100 donation plus the collection of another $315 from friends.

We have been getting a number of queries regarding the exact location of our new shelter. We can appreciate the interest but want everyone to know that the shelter is way outside of town without an actual address and all visits there must be escorted. If you are interested in a future visit, please contact us via email at spcapv@gmail.com.

If you would like to make a donation, such as toys or blankets, please just drop them off at Los Mangos Library during adoption hours each Saturday.

Adoption Locations

The SPCA de Puerto Vallarta continues to host adoption events every Saturday at two popular locations:

1) Los Mangos Library: Biblioteca Los Mangos, on Avenida Francisco Villa, just past the Pemex station and around the corner from Costco. Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

2) Old Town Farmers Market:  Our booth is now located on Pino Suarez, between V. Carranza and Basilio Badillo along El Jardin de Ninos Emiliano Zapata school. Time: 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

Everyone is welcome to come and play with the animals, chat with us about them and about the SPCA, and of course, think about adoptions!

Farmers Market

Well it was certainly a busy New Year's Eve day at the Farmers Market.  There were lots of people stopping by our table and purchasing merchandise or making donations. As a result, we received about 7,500 pesos, including a 500 peso donation from B. Fick. It was a good thing we had more volunteers than usual.

Thanks to Mark, Lynnette, Doreen, Marjorie and Judith. Jenny stopped by with Pumpkin who is our spotlight dog for the week. Great photo taken by Marj..thanks!

Los Mangos Library

Due to the holiday, the library was closed. But, we are happy to report that Lola, the cute little black puppy, was adopted yesterday from her foster home.  Great new year in store for her!

Currently the SPCA de PV is selling calendars, bumper stickers, tote bags and tee shirts as a way to raise funds. You may buy any of these items at the Library or Farmers Market, or at Cassandra Shaw Jewelry located at 276 Basilio Badillo. (100% of the purchase price supports the SPCA de PV)

What's New?

We are so pleased to announce a new program promoting adoptions. Nicole Martin, who is well known around town as being a dedicated friend of the animals is now working with Cupocity.

Nicole is also managing our Facebook page.

Here's some more information from Cupocity about the program that Nicole will be managing. We hope that we will be able to reach a larger audience with this new vehicle.

Cupocity is proud to announce its Adopt a Furry Friend program. What is it? Adopt a Furry Friend is a small section on Cupocity that features one very special animal a day. Many of the animals you will see have come from very unfortunate situations and are currently in foster with various wonderful associations and caring foster families who all together are making a great difference in the street animal population in Puerto Vallarta.

Keep an eye out for the Furry Friend of the day and share with people who you know will care and you might be part of the chain to making a difference in the life of that animal.

Remember, if anyone can accompany dogs to the US or Canada, please contact us at spcapv@gmail.com.
