As part of the work that the Municipal Government has accomplished to strengthen security in this tourist destination and for the peace of the people of Puerto Vallarta, Mayor Ramon Guerrero Martinez instructed that they would continue the rehabilitation and maintenance of video surveillance cameras that are distributed in the city, through the Preventive Police Station and Highway agency.

In this regard, Mayor Rogelio Hernandez de la Mata, of the Preventive Police and Highways, stated that there are a total of 48 video surveillance cameras that are installed in different strategic points of the city, of which only 17 were operable at the beginning of his administration. There are now 27 operable while the remaining are in the process of repair.

It should be noted that rehabilitation is being carried out in coordination with the personnel of Public Works and the Puerto Vallarta Fire Department, so the city will not have to disburse a large sum of money to put the cameras back into operation, as some just need minor repairs due to lack of maintenance.

Hernandez de la Mata said there are other cameras that they are in poor condition and require reparation and they will repair as many as possible so that they have an optimum video surveillance service.

Finally, he noted that these and other actions will be implemented throughout the city, in order to improve the safety of Puerto Vallarta, as the aim of the current Municipal Government is to make it the safest tourist destination in Mexico.

Once the cameras have been repaired and are in place, they will allow greater security for tourists and residents in Puerto Vallarta, especially in the main streets and avenues of the city, such as Francisco Medina Ascencio and Francisco Villa.
