Paradise Village Marina and the Vallarta Yacht Club were the venue for the Seventh Annual Marlin & Tuna Tournament of 2013 which took place on August 8 through August 10.

The Banderas Bay Sportfishing Club of Nuevo Vallarta was proud to announce another successful sportfishing tournament.

The Ana Maria took the First Place Trophy for their marlin catch of 262.5 kg (about 578.5 lbs), measuring 3.49 meters (11.45013 ft), which they brought on board early in the tournament on the first day of fishing, August 9.

"If we stay in first place, this would be the tenth time we won a first prize in tournaments in the region," were the words of angler Martin Mak after catching the prize marlin on the Ana Maria.

Team Ana Maria is known as the Marlin Kings of Puerto Vallarta and have also been featured on ESPN, Marlin Magazine, Florida Sportfishing Magazine and World Wide Fishing Guide as the #1 Charter Crew to go with in Puerto Vallarta!

The second day of fishing was alive with action as Luis Manuel Ocaranza hooked up with the fourth place winner on the Matador, just 4 lbs short of taking over the third place position held by Juan Pablo Moll on the Maverick.

Also, on the second day of competition, the host boat of the Fishing Club Bahia de Banderas with Rodolfo Barcenas Escudero, presented a 105.900 kilogram (about 233 lb) marlin placing them in sixth position.

In the two days of competition, there were no qualifying catches of dorado (mahi mahi), tuna or sailfish, so there were no winners in those categories.

"This tournament proved sportfishing to be a great hobby in experiencing great challenges such as breaking records and the extreme fight in bringing in these marlin," said Andrés Famanía Ortega, Treasurer of the Fishing Club Banderas Bay, having seen all participating boats around the region known as El Banco (the Bank). Famanía and his team aboard El Amo, captained by Trinidad, brought in two sailfish on each day of the competition, but none of them qualified for the trophy.

And the winners are...

1st Place - Ana Maria - 262.500 kg (578lb, 11.416oz)

2nd Place - Giallo - 184,700 kg (407lb, 3.1013oz)
