You have probably seen the receptacles of Angeles en Libertad (Angels in Freedom) to collect bottle caps along Francisco Villa by the Kublis Coffee Shop, at supermarkets or convenience stores around Puerto Vallarta.
Angels in Freedom is collecting as many plastic bottle caps as possible to be recycled and the funds used to support our less fortunate citizens fighting cancer.
Ammsi Bautista, spokesman for the association, said this is the second year the campaign is being performed to help a lot of people from various regions of the state and even the country, which are handled by the Civil Hospital Guadalajara, "which is served to assist the many people who do not have the resources for travel and medications in their fight against cancer."
Support from the association does not discriminate by origin or other characteristics, but simply the degree of need by the individuals.
The promoter of the campaign also explained that the support is mainly for adults since there are many campaigns that collect resources for children with cancer, but there are many adults that must travel to Guadalajara for treatment and pay for lodging, food and transportation to receive needed treatments.
"We want people to not have to stop going to the hospital for lack of money, which, in a lot of cases have depleted their medical budget because they can no longer work because of the illness."
There will be a special event to collect the plastic bottle caps on Saturday, September 7, in Downtown Vallarta around City Hall and the Malecon. Join the festivities from 12:00 noon until 10:00 pm where you will be entertained by popular artists, musicians, singers, clowns, dance and some other surprises. It is hoped that all this activity will attract the attention of the people passing by and that they will add to the mountains of bottle caps for this great cause.
We hope to see you on September 7 with bags of plastic bottle caps.
