Pickles, rescued and needs home

"Pickles," a six-month old female puppy, was found by Brischa Borchgrevink of PEACEAnimals.

The dog was wandering around the canopy tour above Paso Ancho with a nylon cord cutting into her neck. Brischa took her to the vet, who diagnosed Pickles with a severe liver infection, indicated by her yellow color and "dark red, vampire eye."

She was also hairless. Brischa reports that the puppy´s skin now has a brown hue to it and the beginnings of hair growth.

Pickles is now disease free, is being treated with special skin baths every week and will be spayed soon.

Brischa says the puppy is adorable and guesses her to be a mix of Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless), Pit Bull and Shar Pei – a "Xolo-Pit-Pei."

If interested in meeting Pickles or if you know of somebody with room in their home and heart for this loving companion, please contact bbrischa@hotmail.com.

Success Stories - Rescued and Adopted

A black, long-haired German Shepherd mix found and fostered by Paulina Stettner, Clinic Director. Paulina interviewed a nice couple from Ixtapa who adopted the dog on Saturday.

"Nina" is flying to a foster home in Calgary - Niña, a small, six-month old female Terrier/Yorkie (?) mix that was playing on our street. Her family couldn't keep her and asked me to find a home for the puppy. Dirty and covered with fleas and ticks, Niña was diagnosed with anaplasma and erlichia, both of which are easily cured. She'll fly with NOBARS on November 5th to Calgary, where a good foster home is waiting for her.

"Lobo,"  a young male Lab mix in terrible condition was rescued by Calgary resident, Heidi Hubner, who spends a month every year at beautiful Punta Negra beach. Heidi saw Lobo near her condo, took him to a vet for treatment and then found a lovely family to adopt him.

"Max," a beautiful young, male German Shepherd who fell off his owner´s roof and suffered severe injuries to one of his front legs.  Heidi Hubner paid his vet expenses, which included amputation. Heidi also found a home for him with Irma, an acquaintance of hers in Puerto Vallarta, who adores Max.
