The Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad is launching its Fourth Annual Film Series at Paradise Community Center beginning December 3, 2013, on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm.  

Films are scheduled through April and, as was true last year, there will be a special week of Academy-Award-nominated films as well.

The list for December is as follows:  

December 3

Quartet - At a home for retired musicians, the annual concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday is disrupted by the arrival of Jean, an eternal diva and the former wife of one of the residents. Director: Dustin Hoffman. Stars: Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Billy Connolly. Writer: Ronald Harwood (play). 98 minutes.

December 10

The World According to Monsanto - Combining secret documents with first- accounts with victims, scientists, and politicians, this widely praised documentary film exposes why Monsanto has become the world's poster child for malignant corporate influence in government and technology. Director: Marie-Monique Robin. 109 minutes

December 17

Mariachi Gringo - A stifled, small-town man stuck in a dead end life, runs away to Mexico to be a mariachi singer. MARIACHI GRINGO is a musical tour-de-force exploring the reality of "following your dreams" across cultural, personal, social and geographical borders. Director: Tom Gustafson. Writer: Cory Krueckeberg. Stars: Shawn Ashmore, Martha Higareda, Kate Burton. 109 minutes.

Tickets are available for a donation 60 pesos prior to the movie at Paradise Community Center or 70 pesos at the door.

We invite moviegoers to come early and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the Community Center food venders. Food is available at 6:00 pm.
