The city of Puerto Vallarta has been visited by three vessels of the U.S. Coast Guard in working together with DIF and the PV Navy League in conjunction with the community social work of "Comrell's Program."
The President of DIF, Magaly Fregoso Ortiz, and Navy League President, Laura Joachin Moreira, congratulated and thanked the volunteers for their work and the hope that they will continue arriving in Marine and Coast Guard vessels in working for the good of the population outside its borders.
In this case, the ships were the U.S. Coast Guard USCG Jarrett, USCGC Mellon and USCGC Alert, who visited the city between August and November.
With each arrival, the volunteer crew along with members of the association, spent time working on Puerto Vallarta's schools, hospitals, community areas and non-profit organizations. The crews donate their labor and expertise in construction, electrical, plumbing, among others, to rehabilitate public areas, with the support of the municipal DIF, the Department of Education of Puerto Vallarta, the Eighth Naval District and the Red Cross.
In recent visits, work has been performed at the School for the Deaf, Clinical Rehabilitation Vallarta Santa Barbara, DIVAC, Project Pitillal, and the Aurora Sports and Recreation Center. 50 volunteers donated labor and resources to improve these spaces and buildings for the benefit of the community of Puerto Vallarta.
The Puerto Vallarta Navy League runs many programs benefiting the community which include those relating to the American ships not only supplying volunteer crews but also in providing free transportation of medical, rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment, which is much needed in the region.
