For the first time in recent years, Jalisco is reversing the negative trend in the number of tourists arriving in the state by air.
According to the Ministry of Tourism of Jalisco (Secturjal), approximately 50,000 additional seats have been added to the already full flights of incoming domestic and international travelers to PVR.
Although a growth of over 5 percent was expected, the Christmas holiday was considered to be an attribute for the constant number of arrivals with 100 percent occupancy.
The State Secretary of Tourism, Enrique Flores Ramos, said recently that efforts in aviation connectivity directed this 2013 for the recovery of the offer of direct flights from the domestic and international markets that were lost in 2010-2012.
Efforts focused mainly towards Puerto Vallarta, through negotiations with wholesale tour operators and airlines, in order to increase the number of frequencies and open new domestic and international routes.
So far, the indicators in the two major airports in Jalisco (Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta) reflect outstanding achievements for the winter season.
It should be noted that by the end of 2013, based on the promotion and signing cooperative agreements with airlines and wholesale operators, an additional supply of more than 50 thousand seats was achieved in direct flights to Puerto Vallarta and nearly 400,000 to Guadalajara, which has not happening for several years.
Regarding maritime tourism, the holder of Secturjal, Enrique Ramos Flores, led a meeting a few weeks ago in Puerto Vallarta, where the alliance between this destination in Jalisco, Mazatlan and Los Cabos was announced, with the aim of reviving the arrival of tourists.
Port activity in Jalisco closes 2013 with 81 cruise arrivals with 170,796 passengers, with 13 of the cruise ships spending the night in Puerto Vallarta, and the scheduling of 107 arrivals in 2014, with the recovery start of this important segment.
