Events Not to Miss This Week in Vallarta-Nayarit

Team Angels - PVAngels
January 13, 2014

Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.
The Rainbow Warrior Tour by Greenpeace - Monday

Today is the final day for the Rainbow Warrior to visit Puerto Vallarta.

The ship will be open to the public with on-board tours and photo exhibition from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.
At 7:00 pm, there will be a screening of the documentary "Un Salto de Vida" ("A Leap of Life").

International Friendship Club Open House - Tuesday

Don't miss the fun at the first big Open House of 2014! The International Friendship Club (IFC) will host its 3rd annual Open House at the newly renovated clubhouse and pleasant outdoor terrace on Tuesday evening, January 14, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

This party is open to IFC members, friends, visitors, and anyone interested in the charitable goals and social activities conducted through this longtime Vallarta organization, which is a registered charity in Mexico.

There will be free appetizers and tickets for two complimentary beverages for everyone attending! Trenzas Negras, a lively band playing popular music of all cultures, will be back for a second year of great musical entertainment.

PuRR Project Shelter Tours - Wednesday
We are delighted when visitors want to visit our shelter.

Tours meet at 10:00 am at the Starbucks Peninsula or at 10:30 at the WalMart Nuevo Vallarta. Space is very limited because we simply do not have enough volunteers with cars to carry large groups, so reservations are a must.

If you have your own vehicle and can follow our tour guide, that is great.

Vertical Gardens Meeting at PCC - Thursday

Vertical Gardens? Have you heard of them? Have you seen any? We’re told it’s a simple, easy to use system that can be tailored to fit any available space. They’re becoming the “in-thing” as we all look to a greener future. Plus, with many of us living in condominiums with balconies, this may be our answer to the garden we all want.

The Vallarta Garden Club is pleased to have Diana Figueroa, a local Vallartan who has a business here developing vertical gardens -  Jardines Alternitivos. You may have seen her at the Bugambilia Festival last May.

Our next meeting is on Thursday, January 16, at 11:00 am at the Paradise Community Center in Old Town Vallarta, 127 Pulpito.

Festival Sayulita 2014 - Thursday thru Saturday

Festival Sayulita 2014 is calling you to our paradise! The first annual Festival Sayulita is a unique gathering for all lovers of Mexico, Film, Tequila, Food, Music and Surf to be held January 16-19th.

The idyllic coastal town of Sayulita provides a scenic, bohemian background perfect for this international festival. Creative and provocative films will be shown in various venues throughout the town.

Additional events include tequila and food pairings, master tastings, beach-front film venues, private screenings, lecture series, and live music.

Charity Golf Classic for Womens Shelter - Saturday
Please join us for the Banderas Bay Women's Shelter Charity Golf Classic to benefit the Banderas Bay Women's Shelter on January 18, 2014. We will have a great day of golf at the beautiful Flamingos Golf in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico.

There will be prizes for longest drive, longest put, closest to the pin and best team score. After the tournament there will be a putting contest, a BBQ dinner and awards. There will be a hole-in-one contest on hole number 8 and every player will have the opportunity to win a 2014 VW Beetle.

Alberto Mejia in Concert at Palm Caberet - Sunday
Popular Vallarta crooner and actor, Alberto Mejia, returns to The Palm Cabaret and Bar this season, in association with UNDA Productions, with a run of his own show.

Upcoming Sunday concerts will take the Palm Stage at 7:30 pm.

Alberto is known for his smooth vocals and suave stage presence and the ladies, gents, locals, and tourists love him equally.

There's a lot more going on in Vallarta-Nayarit this week, so check out our Events Calendar.

Another way to spend some very worthwhile time in Vallarta-Nayarit is to volunteer at one of the Banderas Bay non-profits that will welcome you with open arms. It will make you feel good too! You will see the tabs above for all the catagories.
