All skill levels of poker players are invited to join us on Saturday, February 15, for our always fun and popular Poker Tour Fundraiser.
The tour will start at Steve's Bar, American Legion Post 14 Headquarters, at 1:00 pm and will finish up around 5:00 at Murphy's with the draws.
Along the way, we'll stop by Nacho Daddy, Thirsty Cougar, Monchis/Pour Favor, Escondida Sports Bar, Cheeky Monkey and Cafe Roma.
Three taxi buses will be provided by the participating bars.
50% of the proceeds from the donation ticket sales of 100 pesos each will be divided between Corazon de Nina and Youth Sports. The other half will be distributed to the Poker winners with first place receiving 50%, second place receiving 30% and third place with 20%.
Corazon de Nina is a local non-profit children's shelter dedicated to providing housing, education, food, medical care and love to young girls who have been removed from shockingly abusive situations.
Youth Sports, which is highly supported by American Legion Post 14, includes the Torpedos Americano Football. They operate similar to US Pop Warner with ages 7 to 18 boy and girls playing. The Legion is also working through the Jay Sadler Project, the Recreation Director of the municipality, and DIF to set up a basketball league at the Aurora Recreation Center, initially with 4 teams of 10 players each and 4 coaches. We will pay for the coaches, balls and shirts. We are recruiting players now and hope to start in March. In April one of our members, Jon Murphy (Murphy's Irish Pub on the Malecon), will be holding clinics for the players.
Advance tickets may be purchased at any of the above locations, all in Old Town and Downtown Puerto Vallarta.
