Daiquiri Dicks Fashion Show
January 28 was an absolutely perfect Vallarta day to have our annual fashion show/brunch….this year hosted by Daiquiri Dick’s on Los Muertos Beach.
We are so thankful for all your support as it was a quickly SOLD-OUT event!
Everyone ooohed & aaahed at the stunning fashions by Selene Soucy and Chak-Ra, all set off by original jewelry from Angela Lovett and Yesa.
A huge Thanks to Tari Bowman & her staff for the great food and service, to Jorge Acosta for the live music, to our lovely models and to the local merchants & supporters who provided the array of raffle prizes!
Proceeds from this one day provided funds to run the shelter for almost three weeks. MEOW!
Featured Feline
February's Featured Feline Sara is a beautiful lilac-point type Siamese who is about 8 months old now and really needs a loving home to call her own.
She was abandoned by her former family at a local vet clinic, understandably confused and scared and not sure why she was being kept in a tiny cage.
She is now being fostered by PuRR and has been spayed, tested, vaccinated and is ready to go!!
If you are interested in offering her a real Forever Home, please contact Linda at adopt@purrproject.com for more information.

Thanks! Grazie! Mercie! Gracias!
Our volunteers are occasionally questioned about why we have so many fundraising events and where all the money goes.
The simple truth is that every penny goes to support the shelter. Our volunteers are paid nothing and actually spend a lot of their own money as they pay for all the logo items we sell at market and many other necessities at the shelter.
We have only 5 months to raise funds for 12 months of expenses and even that is not enough without the generous private donations of some of our supporters.
We have to feed cats 365 days a year. We also have to have a caretaker on site 24/7, 365 days a year. Then add in vet bills, medicines, litter, cleaning supplies, utilities, & repairs and it adds up quickly!!
So we want to say a BIG “Muchas Gracias” to those who attend our seasonal events and those who support us year-round behind the scenes with donations of food, money, toys & medicines!!!
2015 PuRR Calendar
Is YOUR PuRR kitty ready to be the Cover Girl (or Boy) for next year’s PuRR Calendar???
If you adopted a cat or kitten from PuRR Project anytime in the last few years, we’d like to give you the opportunity to have it featured on one of the months for the 2015 calendar.
The photos you send us need to be:
• Shot with your camera’s highest quality (300dpi is best) & largest size setting, with at least the face of your subject in clear focus. If you’re unsure, send it to us and we’ll let you know if it can be printed in large format. (Photos shot with cell phones often don’t meet the standards for large print that we need.)
• Not digitally altered, cropped or reduced in size in any way, we need the original as it was shot, in full; our talented graphic designer will take care of adjustments if needed.
• Due to the size of your pics (if they are shot using our guidelines) you may have to send them one at a time or only a few together at once as many email accounts have limits to how many MB you can send in one email. Don’t worry, you can send us many emails, just be sure to title them accordingly.
• But most importantly, have fun taking pics of your beloved furry family member and send away! Perhaps you already have a winning shot somewhere that you took a while back. Either way, we’ll be happy to receive your entries at info@purrproject.com between now and June.
Amy & Miss Coco at the mike! |
Adult Bingo Returns
Our Adult Bingo at the Palm on February 9th was a huge success! We saw lots of familiar faces from our regular Kitty BINGO games at Margarita Grill plus some new ones.
Miss Coco Peru joined Amy Armstrong (the “Dirty Diva”) in calling the numbers and this hilarious duo kept the players in stitches.
There were great prizes for those who called “MEOW” and 5,000 pesos in the 50/50 raffle. Our thanks to Tracy Parks & his staff for all the free popcorn and the great service!
So….by popular demand….we’re doing it again on Monday, March 10th!! Cards go on sale at 4:00 and the games will start at 4:30 at The Palm Theater, Olas Altos #508, in Old Town.
Randy Roberts, known for his quick wit and female impersonations will be the guest caller. You don’t want to miss this one if you are in town!!!
