Students Present 'The Wizard of Oz' at the American School of Puerto Vallarta
The American School of Puerto Vallarta proudly presents The Wizard of Oz!
We are very excited to present this musical classic that has inspired generations and hasn't been presented at the American School in over 10 years.
The students and staff invite you to the American School Theatre on April 3 - 5 at 7:00 pm. General admission is 100 pesos and children under 12 is 50 pesos.
This will be a slightly different take on the classic tale - there will be narrators telling the story and characters will sometimes break the "fourth wall." The audience will be asked to participate in some parts of the story - making storm sounds for the tornado, spooky sounds for the haunted forest, etc.
The show will take place on stage but also all around the audience as they make their way down the yellow brick road.
We've also included a song from the Broadway sensation, "Wicked: The untold story of the Witches of Oz."
Students participating with lead roles range from grade 5 through 12. The ASPV Primary Chorus will be playing the Munchkins. The production was were cast before winterbreak and rehearsals started soon after in January.
Join Dorothy and her little dog, Toto, on their musical journey down the yellow brick road!
See you there!
Update:
The cast from ASPV's upcoming musical production of The Wizard of Oz presented a short version of the production to passersby at Los Arcos Amphitheater on the "Malecon." The performance was incomplete as it was intended to intrigue and serve as an invitation to the Puerto Vallarta public to attend the full performance at the school later this week.
Audience members were delighted to see and hear Dorothy and Toto make their way up the yellow brick road to visit the great Wizard of Oz! The performance was well attended and the audience was very warming and supportive of the student's performance.
The full performance will take place at the American School of Puerto Vallarta theatre from April 3-5 at 7:00 pm on those evenings.
