Following is just an overview of all the events and festivities happening this week in Vallarta-Nayarit.

Tom Coster Concert at Vallarta Yacht Club - Monday 
    
VYC is again honored to welcome celebrated keyboardist and award winning composer Tom Coster for a dinner show and concert of Monday, April 21, 2014.

During Tom's long and distinguished career he has played with some of the finest artists in rock and jazz, including Carlos Santana, Vital Information, Gabor Szabo, Third Eye Blind and Loading Zone.

This will be a dinner concert. Dinner service will start at 6:00 pm with the concert at approximately 7:30.

Earth Day Bird Walk in La Cruz - Tuesday 
    
Are you looking for something new and different for this year’s Earth Day Celebration?

You need look no farther than La Cruz’s own marina where Kathleen Dobek and Hans Petermann will be leading a bird watching group on Earth day April 22 at 9:15 am.

Meet them at the Marina Entrance under the covered entryway.

Wear walking shoes and bring a camera, binoculars and bird guide book if you have them. If not, others will have for sharing.

Screening of Chasing Ice for Earth Day - Tuesday 
    
April 22 is Earth Day around the world. If you happen to be in Puerto Vallarta, join the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad for the screening of 'Chasing Ice' on April 22, 2014 at 7:00 pm, as part of their 4th Annual Every Tuesday Night Film Series.

Venue will be the Paradise Community Center in Old Town Vallarta.

Gates open at 5:30 pm and all films begin at 7:00 pm.

We invite moviegoers to come early to enjoy ordering from the food venders at the center. Food is available at 6:00 pm.

Also, this week we will have volunteers available prior to the screening to assist you in registering to vote in the US for the upcoming 2014 election.

Fandango at Teatro Vallarta - Wednesday 
    
Beginning on April 9, Fandango will return to the Teatro Vallarta stage for Wednesday evening performances through May of 2014.

The amazing stage show Fandango brings together theater, dance and music in an international Mexican format with more than 40 dancers and musicians.

Fandango is an emotional show that fills us with pride for all of Mexico and it was created here in the state of Jalisco.

The Wednesday evening performances begin at 6:30 pm. Show dates are April 16, 23, 30 and May 7, 14, 21, 28.

Open Air Market in La Penita - Thursday
    
The Tianguis (open-air market) is held every Thursday from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm around the La Peñita Plaza.

It is "the" place to shop for silver and handmade jewelry, tablecloths and linens, glassware, Talavera plates, Huichol Indian artwork and Oaxacan rugs. You will also find fresh fruits and veggies, homemade breads, and locally-produced honey and coffee beans.

This is one of the largest and most well-known markets in the area. While the Tianguis continues year-round, many of the artisans do not participate during the summer months.

Womens Circle Retreat in Yelapa - Thursday through Sunday 
    
Join us for the Women's Circle Retreat from Friday, April 25, 2014, at 1:00 pm until Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 4:00 pm in Yelapa, Mexico, with Linda Wolf, founder of Women's Circles Network and Daughters Sisters Project and Kellie Shannon Elliott, 5Rhythms certified teacher.

For this retreat, we have rented all the rooms at El Jardin, so we'll have plenty of privacy and comfort in our own nest. El Jardin is located on "The Point," just off Isabel's Beach. The living room, dining room, kitchen, and dance space are one large space, open-air, right at the edge of the Bay. Just beautiful.

Mozart's Così Fan Tutte at Teatro Vallarta - Saturday

Back by popular demand, enjoy a Saturday Matinee direct from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City while in Puerto Vallarta. Teatro Vallarta presents 'Live in HD' broadcasts with the complete schedule for the 2013-2014 season.

Music Director James Levine conducts Mozart’s beloved opera about testing the ties of love. The cast is filled with youthful Met stars: Susanna Phillips and Isabel Leonard are the sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella, Matthew Polenzani and Rodion Pogossov are their lovers, with Danielle de Niese as the scheming Despina.

General admission is 250 pesos. Approximate running time: 4:05

Farmers Market in La Cruz - Sunday 

The Sunday Farmer's Market in La Cruz are in their fourth season with the market opening at 10:00 am.

This Artisan Products Market is held on the premises of Marina Rivera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

More than a hundred producers of food, jewelry, textiles, handicrafts and art prints are ready with their wares in the beautiful Market setting by the sea, surrounded by palm trees, bougainvillea, live music and lots of good vibes.
