Mexico's most important travel industry event, Tianguis Turistico 2012, will be held in Puerto Vallarta from March 25-28, and the city is preparing a series of cultural, recreational and dining events to showcase all of the wonderful things that the destination has to offer to its visitors.

Restaurant Week Tianguis Edition

Puerto Vallarta is considered the second national gastronomic mecca, just after Mexico City, and among beach cities, it is the gastronomic capital because of the extraordinary variety of restaurants.

During the celebration of the Mexico Tourism Tianguis 2012 there will be a special edition of Restaurant Week from March 22-29, 2012, with the participation of 28 of the best restaurants from the Eighth Annual Restaurant Week, to be held from May 15-31, 2012, with 40 of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit offering spectacular three-course menus with discounts of up to 50%.

It will be necessary to present proper identification as a participant of the Tianguis Turistico in order to enjoy the specially designed menus.

Mexico Tourism Tianguis Golf Tournament with Lorena Ochoa

On March 23, prior to the start of Mexico Tourism Tianguis 2012, the Vista Vallarta Golf Club will host a Golf Tournament with Lorena Ochoa. During this tournament various business partners and buyers will have the opportunity to play with one of the best golfers in the world, who is also a proud ambassador of Tourism in Jalisco.

The tournament will be limited to 80 participants, Vista Vallarta Golf Club offers 1,181 acres comprised of 2 professional 18-hole courses, both listed in the top 10 in Mexico by Best's Golf Guide for the Mexican Riviera. This will be an unforgettable experience to play alongside exceptional Jalisco athletes: Lorena Ochoa, Sophia Sheridan and Regina Plasencia.

San Pancho Polo Cup, Tianguis Edition 2012

Polo is without a doubt one of the most thrilling sports for viewers, as it combines the talent of the rider and its horse to reach a goal and make a spectacular pairing – and when we add the glamour of this game to the equation, the results are spectacular.

In Riviera Nayarit, Campo La Patrona allows our visitors to experience first-hand this sport of kings. This is why we've organized a very special tournament for Tianguis Turístico México 2012.

Four teams with some of the most experienced polo players will compete for the Tourism Tianguis Polo Cup 2012, which will be played at La Patrona on Saturday, March 24 and on Sunday, March 25 in matches with 4 chuckers of seven minutes each.

Attendees enjoying this experience will also enjoy the haute cuisine that can be found in this coastal town. We are confident that all our guests at the Tianguis will want to be part of this glamorous event.

On March 24, guest reception begins at 4:00 pm, followed by semifinal matches at 5:00 and 6:00 pm. The polo party will begin at 7:30 pm. On March 25, guest reception again begins at 4:00 pm, the third place match at 5:00, the grand final at 6:00, awards ceremony at 7:00 and closing cocktail party beginning at 7:30 pm.

Wine Fest 2012

Considering that wine culture each day takes more importance in the culinary world and the wonderful hotels and restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, the decision was made to hold the 6th edition of the Wine Fest as part of the Mexico Tourism Tianguis 2012, in order to share the cultural experience with Tianguis participants.

The official opening of the Wine Fest 2012 will take place on Thursday, March 22, 2012, in the courtyard Puerto Vallarta City Hall. There will be a wine of honor for attendees, a brief presentation of the municipal theater group and an award ceremony for winners of a poetry contest.

The Festival continues in 21 participating restaurants with tastings and food pairing menus at 6:00 pm on March 22-27.

Puerto Vallarta Showcases the Malecon in its Splendor – Cocktails and Fireworks

The newly renovated Malecon has become the main meeting point for tourists and locals, offering an interesting mixture of modern architecture and the experience of Mexican traditions with a wonderful natural setting.

This will no doubt be the perfect setting for the spectacular fireworks display that the city of Puerto Vallarta will be offering. And, if this were not enough, the event will be graced with a concert by the renowned Mariachi Vargas on Monday, March 26, from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Participation of Puerto Vallarta Businesses

Participation of Puerto Vallarta shows a common front with a clear objective: the promotion of the destination and showing strong unity among the various providers of tourism services.

Puerto Vallarta will have a delegation of 72 representatives from various companies providing services such as hotels, DMC's, Tour Operators, among others. The Jalisco delegation comprises 138 representatives.

Held in Acapulco for the last 36 years, Tianguis now moves to Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit for 2012, then Puebla and Quintana Roo (Cancun-Cozumel-Riviera Maya) who will host the event in 2013 and 2014.

This year, the slogan for the tourism event is "Two Paradises, One Destination."

The International Convention Center of Puerto Vallarta, the event's official site, offers more than 161,000 square feet of exhibition space to welcome companies and representatives of the tourism industry, both domestic and foreign. The Convention Center is located just north of the Puerto Vallarta Airport.
