Vallarta Botanical Gardens invites you to spend the day with us on Sunday, September 14, 2014.
Many of you have noticed the Vallarta Botanical Garden’s statue of Alexander von Humboldt, the great German explorer who is credited with completing Mexico’s first botanical surveys in a modern scientific manner.
Humboldt’s work is widely memorialized in Mexico in many ways, including his statue in Mexico City’s Alameda Central (Central Park) and the honorary citizenship bestowed to him by then-President Benito Juárez.
Each year the Garden celebrates the legacy of this important botanist and explorer on his birthday.
This year we are pairing Alexander Von Humboldt’s birthday celebration with our annual Golden Oak Award Ceremony for modern-day environmental heroes serving the Cabo Corrientes, Puerto Vallarta, and Bahía de Banderas communities. Please share your award nominations by sending them to educadorambiental@vbgardens.org.
The Birthday Celebration will be an all-day event and the Golden Oak Award Ceremony will take place at 12:00 noon.
Hours are 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. VBG is closed on Mondays from April through November.
Vallarta Botanical Gardens is located 30 minutes south of Old Town, Puerto Vallarta, on Carretera a Barra Navidad at km 24, just past Las Juntas and Los Veranos. For more information, email info@vbgardens.org or telephone (322) 223-6182.
